#EUSEW2024: Indoor Environmental Quality event recording
We are proud to have co-organised the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) event on Sustainable Energy Day in Brussels on 10/06/2024. Our vice-chair of the Advocacy Working Group, Loïc Delorme (Schneider Electric), and member Tyler Smith (Johnson Controls) both emphasised the importance and benefits of buildings having the capacity to control and monitor IEQ.
IEQ is an intrinsic element of the recast EPBD. During the first session, Loïc highlighted how the integration of BACS is key to ensuring that building owners and managers can monitor and optimise building services such as heating, ventilation, lighting, and acoustics. At eu.bac, we will continue to show our unwavering support towards Member States as they begin the implementation process of the recast EPBD. This will be achieved through the guidelines and checklists that we are currently working on, to assist all necessary stakeholders as they begin to implement IEQ.
Our second session saw industry experts analyse France and the Netherlands’ respective approaches on implementing the EPBD’s IEQ provisions. eu.bac were delighted to see our member Tyler Smith (Johnson Controls) come across from the USA to speak on the importance of IEQ’s value to the building owners. He outlined how owners and users should see the provisions as a benefit, not a burden. Tyler boasts an impressive 19 years in roles relating to leveraging building management systems and HVAC to drive improvements in energy efficiency, health and productivity.
eu.bac left the event with the added reassurance that stakeholders in the building sector are committed to cooperation on all things IEQ. This industry camaraderie will prove to be essential in the transposition process of the EPBD.
A special thanks to our co-organisers REHVA, EVIA, LightingEurope & GCP EUROPE
