eu.bac Joins 20 Associations in Joint Statement Ahead of High-Level Dialogue on Energy Efficiency

The European Building Automation and Controls Association (eu.bac) is proud to be among 20 leading European industry associations co-signing a joint statement ahead of the High-Level Dialogue on Energy Efficiency convened by Commissioner Jørgensen on 20 May.
This landmark initiative, represents a unified industry call for greater ambition, structured cooperation, and policy clarity in the field of energy efficiency. The statement highlights the crucial role of energy efficiency products, services, and technologies in delivering on Europe’s core objectives: competitiveness, affordability, and energy security. It outlines five concrete policy actions needed to unlock the sector’s full potential:
- Deliver a stable, long-term policy framework
- Simplify access to EU funding and boost private finance
- Tackle the growing skills gap and expand the energy workforce
- Accelerate energy efficiency, electrification, and demand response
- Support local manufacturing of efficiency products and technologies
Speaking ahead of the Dialogue, eu.bac President Hans Smid remarked:
“The building automation and wider energy efficiency sectors welcome this first High-Level Dialogue and see it as the beginning of a stronger, ongoing partnership with policymakers to drive Europe’s efficiency and competitiveness.”
The statement calls for regular, structured engagement between policymakers, industry, civil society, energy communities, financial institutions, and national authorities. This is a pivotal step towards ensuring that energy efficiency is treated not as a box-ticking exercise, but as a strategic pillar of Europe’s green and digital transitions.
As the European Union implements flagship legislation like the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and accelerates efforts under the Green Deal Industrial Plan, eu.bac continues to advocate for the intelligent integration of building automation and controls as essential enablers of decarbonisation and system flexibility.
